The Gateway Congregation

Gateway Presbyterian Church is not made up of perfect people. (Surprise!) Our congregation is made up of people committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ. How? Worship, prayer, bible study, acts of mission and caring, nurture of people at all stages of their faith – children, youth, college students, parents, empty nesters, and mature adults. Gateway does not expect everyone to think or believe the same things. We value and appreciate people who are at different places in their faith journey. We are diverse! Some are very sure, some are not so sure. Some are seekers, some are confident believers, some are bible scholars, some are new explorers of God’s Word. All have a voice. All can come to the Table.

In Jesus Christ, God calls people to faith and to membership in the Church, the body of Christ. Gateway Presbyterian Church does not have complicated membership requirements. Each person seeking membership professes Jesus Christ as the Lord of their life. Baptism is required to join. Baptism is the visible sign of God’s call and claim on our life and of entrance into the membership of the church.  If you’ve been baptized and are a member of another church, we will ask for your membership to be transferred. If you have not joined another church or if it has been a very long time, you simply profess or reaffirm your faith by answering the membership questions as a part of the new member liturgy.

Here at Gateway, we encourage people to deepen their experience of Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship, mission, learning, and prayer. We also encourage people who are part of our congregation to serve God in big and small ways. Some give a great deal in time and talent and treasure, some give just what they can. Different seasons bring different levels of participation in the vital congregational life we share – but all are welcome! We want you to belong. And we want to help you find your way to be spiritually fed and to spiritually serve God in our family of faith here at Gateway Presbyterian Church.

Welcome in the name of Jesus Christ.
