Christ caring for people through people
Gateway Presbyterian Church offers Stephen Ministry to our membership and
the community. Through this one-to-one confidential caring relationship, many who are
hurting can receive the love, care and support that is needed.
Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to
care, listen and to share Gods love with can help you get through the confusion,
stress or loneliness you may be experiencing.
Stephen Ministry is:
- A commitment to caring and supporting one another
- A one-to-one, confidential ministry by trained, caring lay
ministers.
- A response to Christs command to love one
another as I have loved you
A Stephen Minister is:
- A child of God who walks beside a hurting person
- A trained, caring Christian who really listens
A Stephen Minister is not:
- a professional counselor
- a problem solver
- a casual visitor
Stephen Ministry helps meet the needs of
people who are:
- Lonely or discouraged
- Grieving the death of a loved one
- Coping with a terminal illness or caring for a family member
with a terminal illness
- Affected by a financial setback
- Struggling with their faith in God
- Experiencing relationship problems
- Transitioning into retirement
- Facing other life transitions
